Study programmes

The Department of Microelectronics provides tuition in all forms of study - the Bachelor programme Microelectronics and Technology (study for the Bc. degree - Bachelor), the follow-up Master degree programme Microelectronics (title Ing. - engineer), and the doctoral degree programme Microelectronics and Technology (title Ph.D) offered to very good students. Bachelor study - full-time - Microelectronics and Technology

A three-year Bachelor degree programme is focused on training of specialists in the design and technology of integrated circuits, electronic systems and devices for various areas of electronics and electrotechnology.

The programme covers analog and digital signals, materials, production processes and computing, with focus on micro-and nanoelectronics, design of electronic devices and applications of electronic circuits and systems.

The wide range of optional subjects, technical projects and Bachelor theses involves

  • computer simulation of integrated circuits
  • design and technology of electronic systems and applications of microelectronic circuits for electronic devices
  • microelectronics sensors, micro- and nanotechnology
  • technology of analog and digital intergrated circuits
  • design and manufacturing of printed-circuit boards
  • surface mount technology
  • testing and measuring techniques
  • organization of the manufacturing process and business economics

Alternatively, the student can opt for biomedical and clinical applications (biosensors, implants, bioinformatics), and is trained in information and communications technologies.

The graduates will be provided with a good knowledge of the design and computer simulations of analog and digital integrated circuits, design of electronic systems and applications of microelectronic circuits for electronic devices, technology of analog and digital integrated circuits, technology of electronic systems, electrotechnical materials and manufacturing processes, design and manufacturing of printed-circuit boards, surface mount technology, testing and measuring technology, organization of the manufacturing process and business economics. They can study biomedical and clinical applications, or advanced information and communications technology.

The graduates can start careers involving the design, construction and manufacturing of electronic and electrotechnical devices with embedded artificial intelligence (controlled microprocessors, microcontrollers, PCs or PDAs), integrated circuits and semiconductor components, systems on printed-circuit and surface mounted boards.They can take jobs encompassing the design and development of electronic systems and custom integrated circuits, sales and after-sales service, hold lower level management positions in electronic companies.


Master study - full-time - Microelectronics

This study programme is devised to educate an engineer - microelectronics specialist with a deep knowledge of theory, design and technology of integrated circuits, electronic systems and devices for a wide scope of electronic and electrotechnical applications. The main area of interest is the design and computer simulation of integrated circuits, design of electronic systems and applications of microelectronic circuits for electrical devices, integrated circuits and electronic systems technology, design and manufacturing of printed-circuit boards, surface mount technology, testing and measuring techniques. Moreover, the student will have a good knowledge of information and communications technologies.

Master programme graduates can start careers in the design, development and manufacturing of electronic and electrotechnical components, devices and systems, custom integrated circuits and semiconductor components, systems of printed-circuit boards with surface mount technology.

The aim of the study programme is to educate specialists able to deal with difficult technical tasks in business and after-sales service for users of various electronic devices.

Graduates in Microelectronics will be provided with skills needed to design integrated circuits, electronic systems and devices for different sectors of electronics and electrotechnology, and will have a deep knowledge of analog and digital signals, materials and manufacturing processes, mainly microelectronics and applications of electronic circuits and systems. They will study design of integrated circuits and computer simulations, design of electronic systems and microelectronic circuits in electronic devices, electronic and integrated circuits technology, electronic systems technology, design and manufacturing of printed-circuit boards, surface mount technology, testing and measuring techniques, economics and organization of the manufacturing process.

Optional courses deal with information and communications technologies. The graduates will be qualified for jobs involving the design, simulation, technology, manufacturing and applications of integrated circuits, design, technology and applications of electric devices, instrumentation, testing and measuring techniques, analog and digital signal processing.

Owing to the wide scope of the study programme focused on electronic applications, the graduates will be able to adapt to the needs and priorities of their future employers in various sectors of electronics and electrotechnology. They will be able to hold specialist positions in microelectronics and technology, design and manufacturing of integrated circuits and electric devices, construction, operation, service and maintenance of sophisticated electronic and electric devices, systems, and other sectors. They will be qualified to hold top technical, operational and managerial positions.


Doctoral study - Microelectronics and Technology

The aim of the programme is to educate top research workers for various areas of microelectronics and electrotechnology, specializing in the theory, design and testing of integrated circuits and systems, semiconductor elements and structures, smart sensors, optoelectronics, electrotechnical materials and manufacturing processes and electric power sources. In all study areas the students can obtain the Ph.D. degree, get in-depth insight into theory, obtain the necessary specialist knowledge and skills, and receive research work metodology training.

The graduates will be able to carry out sophisticated scientific and technical tasks in microelectronics and electrotechnology.

The Ph.D. graduates will be able to hold expert positions involving microelectronics and electrotechnology.

The Ph.D. graduates in microelectronics and eletrotechnology will be qualified for positions at institutions conducting basic and applied research, electrotechnical and electronic companies manufacturing or employing electric systems and devices, where they will be able to use computing and measuring devices creatively.
